Our Why

IgnitEDU was created after many years of working in education and noticing there is a huge gap in what is needed for students to thrive. This gap crossed all communities. It did not discriminate. Too often the pressures of achieving certain academic scores and doing well academically comes with a price. From students passing out, to unhealthy financial and physical habits, to multiple repeated, failed courses we have seen it all. Infusing mental health into education is the perfect recipe not just for student success, but life success!

We help students tackle their mental health so they can live in a happier space as they transition to adulthood.

In the IgnitEDU Online Student Mental Health Course, you will have the opportunity to learn, build and strengthen your mental health foundation. In this course we cover the following areas:

  • Understanding of Mental Health

  • Overcoming Your Mindset Barriers

  • Positive Psychology

  • Resiliency

  • Stress Reduction

  • Mindfulness

  • Self-Care

  • Mental Health Support

  • Mental Health Sustainability

Instructor

Founder & CEO

Christina Broderick, LSW

Christina Broderick is a clinically trained Licensed Social Worker, a Psychotherapist, a Certified School Social Worker, and an Adjunct Professor, who is passionate about ensuring mental health becomes a priority for all. Christina has worked across the entire lifespan, from elementary-aged students to the older adult population, all covering a wide array of needs and challenges. Having a professional background in program coordination and management, as well as clinical support and services, Christina has been able to blend her experience with her expertise to work with clients internationally. Her passion stems from first-hand frustrations she experienced with the gap that exists in foundational mental health concepts and skills for all. Too often we wait until issues become alarmingly difficult for us to handle to then seek assistance. She wants to change that. We all should learn, understand and take proactive action for our mental health and the mental health of others. While treatment is imperative for mental illness, providing knowledge, skills, and resources for wellness is equally important for all of us. We all have mental health and should work together to be proactive when we can and comfortable seeking help when needed. Christina holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Spanish from La Salle University in Philadelphia and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston University. She is a proud first-generation college graduate, first-generation Jamaican-American, and first-generation business owner. Christina has been featured in Voyage LA, HealthiNation, Thrive Global, and numerous podcasts. She also created her own six-episode podcast on Student Mental Health. When not working with clients or teaching students, she serves as a volunteer mentor coach for a national nonprofit that supports the economic mobility of first-generation college students, as well as an Associate Board Member, leading their Engagement Committee.

"I enjoyed this course so much. Each week, I was so excited to learn new things regarding my mental health. This course provided me with information and strategies I need in order to be successful. At first, I was not sure what to expect but then with the other students we created a community in which we were able to express ourselves and bounce off ideas that relate to the specific topic we were discussing. I gained skills for a healthier mind and a community that will hold me accountable to complete the strategies we learned during the course. Christina was so great and made the course fun and effective. This course changed my life and how I view mental health. I feel better prepared to face any situation that may affect my mental health. If you or someone you know are struggling with you mental health, reach out to Christina, IgnitEDU and take this course. We forget that our mental health is just as important as our physical health and that we need both our body and mind to be successful".

"IgnitEDU was the push that I needed when taking accountability for my mental health. Learning new strategies and resources I can use to focus on my mental health was extremely beneficial. I've known the importance of mental health , but didn't know where to start and by joining the weekly sessions it held me accountable and taught me new ways to not only focus on my mental health but better it as well."

Past Course Participant

Claudia Romani, Montclair State University, Class of 2022

"Thank you Christina for this amazing course. I used to not prioritize my mental health because I did not consider it an aspect of my life. I've always overworked myself at school and thought that my role as a student was the only important role in my life. Through your course, I've learned that there are many other spaces we can grow in mentally, such as our spiritual, personal, and social life. I have kept everything you've taught us in my toolbox."

We've worked with students from:

KIPP: NJ, KIPP Through College
Drew University
Monmouth University
Montclair State University
Seton Hall University
